1890s Morning Coat
My first attempt at tailoring was essentially a full-scale sample, in the form of half of a morning coat. This allowed me to practise classic tailoring techniques at half of the cost; as the price of wool and a student budget do not mix well.

This project taught me how to use canvasses to build shape, and the joys of working with good-quality wool that can stretch and shrink exactly where needed. Even now I still refer to this coat for help when it comes to attaching collars or shaping cuffs.
